Who are you?
I am Hanneke kARThaus, designer and owner of HAKA-design.
Where do you live?
I live in a village near Nijmegen, a city in the southeast of the Netherlands. The village is located in a beautiful nature reserve called the “Ooijpolder” where I often walk with my dog.
What is your way of working?
I am a real Apple-fan and you can find me sitting for many hours in front of my iMac. Frequently I make photos or drawings to use for the designs.
What’s your source of inspiration?
I get inspired by many things, in fact everything :) For example, when I’m watching a movie and seeing something nice, I stop the film to zoom in.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to spend a lot of time with my family. Besides that, I love photography, reading, travelling, dining out as well as going to a pub with friends.
What education did you have?
In 1994 I finished my study Developmental Psychology. After that I decided to do what I have always had wanted to do: going to the Art Academy. I studied part-time for three years Free Art at the artEZ in Arnhem. After some wanderings I started in 2003 as an independent graphic designer. In the beginning I focussed on the design of birth announcements, wedding cards en business printing. Since 2011 I started to make surface pattern designs and now I cannot be stopped!
